African startups can apply for Justice Accelerator
The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) through its annual Justice Accelerator is calling on innovative African startups with a focus on changing lives and creating social impact to apply for this year’s HiiL Innovating Justice Challenge.
The Justice Accelerator is HiiL’s lead development program that funds, prepares, and mentors global justice startups every year. The program searches for the most promising startups from East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, the Middle East region, and Ukraine that aspires for everyone to justice at work, at home, and in place of business.
Specifically, the program seeks to support startups that create better:
- working conditions with their employer
- separation terms with their spouse
- protection against theft, fraud, and violence
- arrangements about noise, damages, and property access with their neighbor
- housing maintenance and rent conditions with their landlord
- agreements on ownership, registration, and use of land
- contracts, fraud protection, and compliance for their small business.
Startup or social enterprises that are looking to solve a pressing justice problem in the West Africa region in a sustainable manner are invited to participate in the International HiiL Justice Accelerator program, along with €10,000 in funding and a package of tailored local support.

At the annual Innovating Justice Forum, startups pitch to an international jury and compete for additional cash prizes:
- €20,000 (1st place)
- €10,000 (2nd place)
- €5,000 (3rd place).
