African Startups Can Benefit from Internet Society Foundation’s BOLT Program
The Internet Society Foundation has announced the launch of its BOLT program targeted at advancing Internet access and connectivity around the world.
The BOLT program aims to support teams of creatives, technologists, researchers, and social/cultural workers to develop solutions to Internet connectivity, particularly among communities that are technologically inaccessible at the moment.
The platform will support selected startups and innovators with up to $200k grant funding for projects lasting up to 12 months.
Speaking on this launch, Sarah Armstrong, Executive Director of the Internet Society Foundation said that the initiative will bolster development and internet access in communities.

“Through these grants, we aim to bolster the development of imaginative, relevant, and sustainable solutions that will promote greater Internet access and connectivity for communities around the world, supporting our vision of an Internet for Everyone,” said Sarah.
Application for the BOLT program is open from 27 September to 29 October, the grantees will be announced in November. Applying startups must ensure that their organization is legally registered.
