Africar partners with Stellantis to launch Auto24, a used car marketplace
Online automobile marketplace, Africar has partnered with Stellantis, a multinational automotive manufacturing company to launch Auto24, a used car marketplace in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Africar Group is the leading online automotive marketplace in Africa and operates in more than 40 countries on the continent. It has enabled over 25 million car buyers and sellers to trade used cars through its online channels since 2016.
The African population is set to reach 1.7 billion by 2030 meanwhile, the number of cars on the continent is less than 1%, a number rounded up to 50 million. In a bid to take advantage of this potential market, Stellantis, the Netherlands-based company geared towards mobile solutions acquired a stake in Africar Group in order to create Auto24.
In a statement, Senior Vice President of Pre-Owned Vehicles at Stellantis, Xavier Duchemin said: “This investment in Africar Group to create Auto24 reinforces our strategy to grow our used vehicle business activity globally in a bold, pragmatic, and agile way. It will follow the same blueprint as the other Stellantis investments in the used vehicle ecosystem. The founders will accelerate the development of their activities while capitalising on Stellantis yet maintaining the inventiveness, energy, and agility that characterises start-up companies.”
Earlier this year, Stellantis partnered with Stimcar, another used car venture in France. This accentuates its market dominance in the business of pre-owned vehicles.
Also speaking on the partnership, co-Founder & CEO of Africar Group, Axel Peyriere, said: “After more than five years of working with automotive manufacturers, distributors and other key players in the industry, we have developed a class leading, multi country digital automotive solution across Sub-Saharan Africa.”
“Auto24 is being launched today with the aim to buttress the confidence of African customers in the used vehicle market. A great challenge that will allow to have a secure, convenient, trustworthy and enjoyable buying or selling used vehicle experience,” he further stated.
Auto24 would offer a 5 days refund policy, a 6 months warranty, a 1 year roadside assistance, a 1 year maintenance package with AutoFast by CFAO and a report of 100 inspection points for each of its vehicle. Speaking with TechCabal, the Africar CEO noted that the new product would not only offer Stellantis brands but other cars like Asian-branded Toyota and Suzuki.
