Airtel Kenya Gets New CEO
One of Kenya’s leading telecommunication firms, Airtel Kenya, has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ashish Malhotra.
According to sources, Malhotra succeeds Parsanta Das Sarma, who recently left the company. Parsanta has held the position of CEO for the past five years. He has played a vital role in the growth of Airtel’s subscribers from about five (5) million to about Sixteen (16) million.
Ashish Malhotra holds a thick profile. According to his professional background, he has been with Airtel for about Eight (8) years, holding various positions in the telecom outfit.
Between October 2020 and July 2022, Malhotra was Head Africa Sales and Marketing, working in different African Nations in previous years, including Airtel Ghana.
In the company’s statement reported by techweez “he was instrumental in doubling revenues, streamlining pricing principles, and building strong, unique selling propositions across the countries.”
Ashish Malhotra holds a Masters Of Business Administration (MBA) from the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, India, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Sri Ram College of Commerce.
As of May 2022, Moshekafrica rated Airtel Kenya as the Second leading telecommunication service provider in the country. Safaricom leads this rating. The rating was based on data rate, speed, mobile network coverage, and customer satisfaction.
