Bob Group Strengthens E-Commerce Ecosystem with Leadership Transition and Payment
A South African e-commerce company called Bob Group has announced its move into a new phase of growth with a leadership transition which oversees its goal into becoming the country’s most comprehensive digital commerce ecosystem.
This transition was announced in Johannesburg when the company announced that Anita Erasmus has been appointed with a formal handover scheduled and will work alongside Higgins for a six‑month period before formally assuming full CEO responsibilities on 1 September 2026. While Co-founder Andy Higgins, who has been Managing Director since the group’s inception, will transition into a new role as Executive Director of Strategy and Chief of Payments, focusing on long-term growth and the expansion of Bob Pay, the company’s integrated payment solution.
According to Higgins, he mentioned that “the leadership change reflects the company's transition from its foundational phase toward "purposeful growth" with a sharper focus on strategic execution and customer value”.
Formerly known as Bidorbuy prior to a major transformation in 2023, Bob Group is an integrated platform that brings together marketplace services, payments, shipping and collection offerings to simplify electronic retail and logistics for South African consumers and businesses.
The leadership team's joint goal is to enhance Bob Group's position in South Africa's quickly growing e-commerce industry, which has gone through rapid expansion in recent years. Bob Group's emphasis is to expand its fintech experience with this new leadership. Erasmus will oversee operational expansion and interaction with customers, while Higgins' new position will place greater emphasis on payments innovation.
