E-commerce Startup, Bumpa Secures $4 Million in Seed Round For Expansion
Bumpa, a Nigerian e-commerce startup has secured Four Million US dollars ($4 million) in the seed round, to propel its expansion in new markets across Africa and also bring in more talent into its team.
The seed round was led by Base10 Partners, while it had the participation of SHL Capital, Jedar Capital, Plug & Play Ventures, FirstCheck Africa Angel Program, Magic Fund, DFS Labs, Fast Forward Ventures, E62 Ventures, and Club14.
The startup revealed that the funds will be well maximized, especially for the improvement of the company’s structure and operations.
Formerly called SalesCabal, Bumpa relaunched in the month of February 2021. It is co-founded by Kelvin Umechukwu the CEO and Adetunji Opayele the CTO. The platform launched with the initiative to assist retailers with the management and development of their businesses with the use of their smartphones.
According to Bumpa, it is developing an infrastructure that will properly drive e-commerce, likewise enabling African SME owners with the tools to initiate, manage and scale their business all from their mobile phones.
Pet named “Shopify for Africa,” by Umechukwu, merchants are allowed to make business transactions on the online platform. Without prior technical skills, merchants can easily navigate the store and experience smooth transactions online.
Prior to this raise, Bumpa had secured a pre-seed round of Two hundred thousand US dollars ($200,000) in 2021.
Recently, the startup announced its initiative to integrate its platform with Facebook’s parent company, Meta. During the announcement, it noted that this development will increase social commerce for SMEs
The integration allows social media merchants to monitor and manage direct messages (DMs) from their social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp directly via Bumpa.
In the same vein, the startup wants to integrate its channels and products used by businesses with just a single click. This integration will facilitate the efficient dissemination of information.
Tasks will also be prioritized on the completion of activities and orders on the platform.
