Cassava Technologies Unveils NVIDIA-Powered AI Factory in South Africa, Sets Stage for Pan-African Expansion
A Pan- African tech company, Cassava Technologies has announced its launch of the first NVIDIA-powered AI Factory in South Africa, marking a major milestone in Africa’s digital infrastructure. This innovation is set to expand through Africa countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco, targeted at empowering local developers and businesses with sovereign AI capabilities.
This introduction of the AI factory improves upon Cassava’s prior efforts, such as the 2025 launch of its Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx) platform. African innovators and businesses will get easy access to advanced AI models and development tools, like those driven by NVIDIA Blueprints and micro-services through CAIMEx.
According to Ahmed El Beheiry, Cassava’s Group COO and Chief Technology & AI Officer, emphasized:
“Building Africa’s AI ecosystem is an act of empowerment, not just a technological milestone.”
The company's leadership claims that the first AI Factory deployment in South Africa will offer GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) capabilities, allowing local computing access that was once restricted by regional infrastructure.
In order to position the continent to develop and deploy AI solutions making use of local data and languages, Cassava intends to extend similar services to important African markets in order to address barriers concerning AI model training deployment, limited access to high-performance computing and dependence on foreign data centers.
By localizing AI capabilities, Cassava empowers African businesses, researchers, and governments to become creators not just consumers of global technology.
