Ethiopian Government Launches Venture Meda Project To Support Startups

Venture Meda a five-year program has been launched by the the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation and Iceaddis. The aim of the program is to increase job creation in the nation, therefore supporting startups with funding and a growth guide.

Officially the program has also been called “Job Creation through Incubation and Acceleration Support in Ethiopia”, the program that should see to the empowerment of about Fifty-Six Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty thousand (56,160) Ethiopian youths going encountering poverty by giving them access to viable jobs via the creation of about One hundred e-commerce startups and also Three thousand Two hundred and Forty small businesses.

While Youths are expected to benefit a great deal from the project, there are also about Seventy-seven Thousand young persons via, the creation and seed funding of startups, at least about One hundred early-stage startups.

All selected startups will be awarded, while a cash award of Fifty thousand US dollars each will be given to ten companies.

Registration for the program has been given out for free and is now accepting applications from individuals, startups or companies in the East African nations, springing off with innovative products, services, ventures or ideas, that have the capacity to tackle and take on life problems.

Registration for Venture Meda is open till the 25th of September 2022.
