Ethiopian Logistics Startup Eshi Express raises funding round
Ethiopian logistics startup Eshi Express has announced it raised an undisclosed amount in funding from the Addis Ababa Angels (AAA) Network as it looks to expand across the country.
Established in 2017, Eshi Express is a delivery startup operating in Addis Ababa and two provincial Ethiopian cities. The platform allows users to arrange deliveries through the application or call center, and track their orders progressively.
Haben Gebre, Eshi Express’s co-founder and chief operations officer (COO) speaking on the funding said that the startup is focused on its mission will carry positive and enduring change through its services via partnership with AAA ventures.
“At Eshi Express our core belief is companies with a great mission will bring positive and lasting change to society. And we’re excited to partner with Addis Ababa Angel Investors as it will enable us to make a strong impact and expand our reach”, said Haben.
Addis Ababa Angels Network was established in 2020 by a group of financial investors in Ethiopia. The venture firm believes Eshi can cause a stir in the delivery process in the region. Yosef Kibur, co-founder of AAA speaking on the funding said that the venture firm believes that Eshi has met AAA’s standards for investment.
“Eshi Express met AAA’s standards for investment as it is a tech-enabled and scalable business with a great team that is coming out just as the country is experiencing a digital revolution of sorts. They have a unique opportunity to be part of this revolution” said Yosef.
Through the funding from AAA, Eshi plans to scale up its business and expand to multiple regional cities soon.
