Fawry partners other tech founders to establish ‘Roaderz’, a last mile delivery for SMEs
Leading Egyptian e-payment solution provider, Fawry, has announced that it has signed an agreement with Samer Gharaibeh, Softec Technologies, and Ammar Zawaideh to co-found Roaderz, a tech-enabled crowdsourcing platform to connect individual couriers and small delivery operations with e-commerce merchants and social sellers.
Roaderz, through AI, would allow merchants to call on-demand, or schedule in advance, for shipment while monitoring the shipment status and delivery progress in real-time. Roaderz would also enable commuters accessing the platform to earn supplementary income by using their personal vehicles for shipments and deliveries.
Samer Gharaibeh is the founder and CEO of Mylerz, a technology-driven parcel delivery company located in Cairo. It offers rapid last-mile delivery services to individuals and businesses in the Egyptian market. Gharaibeh has also been the CEO for Africa at Aramex, a global logistics company that offers logistics services effectively to its users.
Softec Technologies is an award-winning, globally endorsed technology company that specializes in AI and visibility solutions for transportation, mobility, route planning, logistics, and optimization. The company has been recognized in Europe and in the MENA region for its digital transformation projects in logistics, public safety and national security, and motor insurance.
Ammar Zawaideh is experienced in the corporate scene, with over 20 years of experience working in the financial services industry. Zawaideh has strapping business development professional skills in business planning, risk management, business process improvement, and financial analysis. He has been named Chief Executive Officer at Roaderz.
Roaderz expects to be operational during H1 2022, to significantly contribute to the development of Egypt’s fast-growing social commerce and eCommerce spaces. With Fawry as the main support, Roaderz would facilitate seamless collection and payments, creating substantial value for users by shortening cash flow cycles. The platform would also provide increased flexibility for eCommerce and social sellers to scale up while ensuring the payment and fulfillment link for both sides of a transaction. Roaderz would also benefit from Fawry’s established network of small- and medium-sized retailers.
Fawry announced in January, its plans to raise over $50 million to finance its growth in financial services for both sellers and consumers. Once the deal is closed, it disclosed to further make investment in high-growth startups and fintech, especially towards platforms that align with Fawry’s services, such as transportation, and logistics.
Fawry CEO, Eng. Ashraf Sabry, commenting on the launch said, “We’re very excited to be introducing Roaderz to the Egyptian market. This is an exciting investment in the logistics industry, we are building operations from the ground up, taking a direct role in operations, quality control, sales, and training. Last-mile delivery is a complex and exciting challenge. We’re entering into this challenge open-eyed and with faith in the power of technological solutions to improve outcomes for smaller merchants by enhancing their commercial reach.”
By putting their collective resources, the partners aim to help Egypt’s underserved SMEs maximize profit. Through Roaderz, partners would create social impacts, by putting small businesses on a level playing field with larger competitors, by providing couriers with flexible work and income opportunities. Roaderz would also reduce carbon emissions by decreasing the average kilometers traveled by a shipment before it reaches the end-user, thus making the model environmentally friendly.
Roaderz aims to leverage supply and demand gaps for SMEs, social sellers, and e-commerce operations with a modern and digital last-mile delivery service. Assuring users of a user experience that is hassle-free, efficient, and reliable.
