Ghana Advances Tech Law Reforms to Boost AI, Fintech, and Cybersecurity

The Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, announced the commencement of the Association of IT Law Professional (AITLAP) Africa which is built as a by the government to strengthen regulatory frameworks in areas such as fintech, e-commerce, data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. 

This innovation was mentioned at the TechLaw Conference 2026 and the official launch of AITLAP Africa held at the University of Ghana School of Law. 

In the words of Mr Sukparu, he ascribed this development to creating effective legal and regulatory frameworks to support Ghana's digital transformation goal, identifying the increasing convergence of law, technology, and innovation as a defining force in the country's growth trajectory. 

The Deputy Minister added that artificial intelligence is a quickly expanding efficiency driver in public administration, legal profession, and financial services. But he stressed that in order to control dangers while reaping rewards, its growth must be directed by moral principles and constructive legislation.

Additionally, Mr. Sukparu emphasized the Ministry's open-door policy and promised to encourage collaborations with AITLAP Africa, particularly within the fields of research, capacity building, and public education on emerging technologies and digital rights.

He highlighted that ongoing cooperation is essential to achieving inclusive and sustainable advancement in the digital ecosystem and urged stakeholders to actively participate in determining Ghana's digital future.
