Huawei has launched its agentic AI cloud service in Nigeria, expanding its cloud offering as businesses across the country increase their adoption of artificial intelligence.

Huawei’s launch comes as Nigerian businesses explore AI applications across sectors including financial services, healthcare, education and retail.

However, the cost of computing infrastructure remains a challenge for startups and smaller businesses looking to develop AI products.

The new service could give African founders access to AI infrastructure without requiring significant investment in their own computing systems. This could lower the cost of testing and scaling AI applications designed for local markets.

The move also adds to growing competition among global technology companies seeking to expand their AI and cloud businesses across Africa.

For Nigeria’s startup ecosystem, access to AI infrastructure could help more locally founded companies move from experimenting with AI to deploying it at scale.
