Jumia Egypt Signs Lease Agreement with Hassan Allam for Space in East Cairo Logistics Complex
Jumia Egypt, a leading e-commerce platform, has signed an agreement with Hassan Allam Utilities, an investment and development arm of Hassan Allam Holding that operates across four key verticals focused on sustainable infrastructure to address service and availability gaps in water, energy, social infrastructure, transport and logistics in Egypt and MEA, for the long-term leasing of one of the group’s major warehouses measuring 26,000 sqm and located in East Cairo.
Hisham Safwat, CEO of Jumia Egypt, and Amr Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding signed the leasing contract with the participation of several leaders from both companies.
Furthermore, this contract reflects the size of Jumia’s strategic partnership in the Egyptian market with Hassan Allam Utilities — the Hassan Allam Holding Group’s investment and development arm — to expand its business in the market, meet customers’ needs, and deliver products to them as soon as possible.
It also reflects the growing customer demand for Jumia products and services across all governorates.
Through Jumia Express, Jumia is expanding its range of free shipping services to all customers in all governorates of the republic.
Safwat expressed his pleasure to be working with one of Egypt’s and the region’s pioneers in investment, infrastructure development, and logistics.
He also went on to say that the company is proud of this collaboration, which is part of its ambitious strategy to expand its storage areas and increase the number of stored products, noting that the Egyptian market is one of the most promising markets in Africa in which Jumia operates.
He explained that Jumia seeks to improve its investment prospects in Egypt in a variety of ways, including direct and indirect investment, as evidenced by this contract.
Safwat went on to say that by opening the new warehouse, Jumia will create thousands of jobs in Egypt, which is in line with the company’s goal of expanding its operations in the country.
additionally, Amr Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding said “We are pleased to cooperate with Jumia and facilitate its operations, and this falls within the framework of Hassan Allam Utilities’ vision to invest and develop in the warehousing and logistics services sector throughout the republic, as the company pays special attention to providing the latest global technology in the fields of sustainable infrastructure, particularly renewable energy, water, logistics, transportation, and social infrastructure.”
“The company is currently focusing on expanding to serve the logistics and warehousing industries, which will have a positive impact on the e-commerce industry.” “The collaboration we’re celebrating today with Jumia is a perfect example of that,” he added.
