Kenya Leads African Startup Funding in the First Half of 2024: Factors Behind Success

Over the past few years, venture capital (VC) funding in Africa has been unevenly distributed among its 54 countries. The “Big Four” tech ecosystems—Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa—have consistently attracted more than 70% of the continent's total funding. In 2023, these four nations accounted for about 90% of all startup funding in Africa.
