Nguvu Health Partners With AXA Mansard To Enable Affordable Mental Healthcare
Nguvu Health, an online teletherapy platform, on Monday revealed that it has gone into a strategic partnership with AXA Mansard an insurance and asset management firm, to provide affordable healthcare packages especially mental healthcare for companies passionate about their employees well being. This is in commemoration of World Mental Health Day (WMHD) which was held on Monday the 10th of October, 2022.
This partnership is an aid to the revelation of the Nigerian state of mind. In 2017, the World Health Organization revealed that more than 50 million Nigerians live with mental health disorders, while about 29 million Africans suffer from depression. Depression has been recognized to be the most common mental health disorder, yet victims have limited access to health care.
While raising awareness for mental health in Nigeria, it has been observed that the Nigerian healthcare system, especially for mental health has been poorly equipped, leaving it vulnerable to challenges faced.
She further stated that”This will happen by exploring practices that help users – individual and corporate – both slow down and speed up—in ways that complement each other—so as to help shift the paradigm from stress and survival to excitement and vitality.”
The on-demand teletherapy platform was launched in 2021. The startup has been working earnestly to provide Nigerians with free access to clinical psychologists.
According to its records, it has gathered more than 10,000 users. The partnership which is to run for the next two years will provide AXA Mansard’s clients and policyholders with access to quality health care, as they will be granted wellness and therapy sessions that will be discounted quarterly.
AXA Mansard’s users will also be provided with discounts on different types of therapy and a 15% discount for support group therapy or for couples.
Nguvu Health’s co-founder and CEO, Joshua Koya, noted that “This partnership holds special promise for the corporate industry and offers a particular benefit for the healthcare sector, particularly the mental health space by addressing difficulties and disorders created or exacerbated by work such as stress and burnout.”
