NJALO, a new online marketplace in Nigeria

Njalo.ng is a new online marketplace launched on Monday in Nigeria.

It is a platform opened to buyers and sellers of various goods/services having categories ranging from Mobile Phones & Tablets, Vehicles, Property, Electronics, Agriculture/Food, Furniture, Home Appliances, Health, Fashion, Beauty, Jobs, Books/Games, Babies & Kids, Construction services, Commercial, to Equipment & Outdoor, Sports & Arts, Animals & Pet.

Njalo.ng is a platform that wants to solve the problem faced in a local market place which may include not getting desired goods/services, distance, stress, among other things.

Speaking during the media launch, the Co-founder/Chief Technology Officer of Njalo.ng, Mr Emeka Orjiani, described the platform as “the unique meeting room between potential sellers and buyers.”

He said the mission of the platform “is to connect buyers with verified sellers of genuine products and create opportunities for entrepreneurs to widen their business scope by meeting more customers.”

The platform makes it so easy for the buyers to meet with the sellers and vice versa.

In the case of the seller, after registration with either a phone number or e-mail, the seller snaps the product(s) for sale and upload them having the description of the item posted already. The system automatically sends it to moderation and put it live after a couple of hours.

The buyer may use the search panel to find a desired product. There is a chat button on the site through which the intended buyer may meet the seller or directly call the seller, find a safe place to meet and make transactions.

The business model is quite scalable however, Njalo.ng seems not to be responsible for the transaction once the buyer meets the seller. Hence, a buyer may still be exposed to mishaps such as theft or being duped as it is possible in a local marketplace.
