Samsung Donates Innovation Hub to YABATECH
Samsung built and furnished an innovation hub and handed it over to Yaba College of Technology, popularly known as YABATECH. The company had worked with the institution for weeks and has transformed the institution’s former computer lab to an innovation hub worthy of repute, equipped with 50 monitors, desk tops, Samsung E boards, Flip boards, cooling units and comfortable furniture for study and collaboration. The Samsung E board is an interactive, touchscreen digital display that allows lecturers and students hold and recap classes with incredible ease, it can also be used for conference meeting, online teaching, recording of lectures and ICT training for the community.
The gesture is geared towards enhancing learning for students and building on the existing level of science and technology application in the institution. According to the head of the Information Technology and Management department of the institute, Dr. Adigun Oyeranmi, series of programs will be developed to power the innovation hub as a learning hub for students studying within the faculty of Computer Science as well as other students with interest in technology.
Beyond providing aid to a public institution, this partnership shows how cordial interaction between the government and the private sector can enhance, not just educational growth, but also interest, collaboration and development in technology.
Samsung is just one of the tech giants contributing to growth in Nigeria; there are others who can take up the challenge of ensuring that there is an increase in the level at which science and technology is studied in institutions across Nigeria.
