Saudi Aramco has acquired a 49% stake in Saudi Artificial Intelligence company HUMAIN, committing $2.6 billion in cash as the kingdom demands efforts to build a global AI infrastructure business.
The transaction, completed on November 1, 2026, will see Aramco contribute $2.6 billion in cash to HUMAIN in 2026, alongside artificial intelligence, computing, and digital assets. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) retains the remaining 51% stake.
HUMAIN plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, alongside expanding its cloud infrastructure, AI models and enterprise solutions.
The investment strengthens Saudi Arabia’s push to expand its AI infrastructure and attract global technology talent and capital.
For Black founders and African AI startups, the investment reflects the growing concentration of capital in the infrastructure powering AI development. HUMAIN’s expansion could create opportunities for African technology companies seeking partnerships in cloud computing, enterprise AI, and model development.
