Saudi Arabia-based climate-tech startup Remedium has raised $1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round to expand its sustainability accounting platform and develop new tools for businesses.

The round was led by Kaltaire Investments. Remedium plans to use the funding to expand its AI capabilities and add new accounting tools for tracking water, waste and energy.

The startup helps businesses collect, analyze, and report environmental data,  bringing sustainability metrics into a single platform. The company also plans to expand its computing infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, keeping customers' data hosted locally.

The raise comes as companies face pressure to measure and disclose their environmental impact as sustainability reporting becomes structured across the region.

For Black founders building in African markets, the deal shows the opportunities in climate tech. Software that helps businesses measure emissions, manage environmental data, and meet reporting requirements could open a growing market for startups across the continent.
