Shema Steve’s Fintech Innovation Unlocks Finance for Africa’s Underserved
A Rwandan fintech entrepreneur has built Exuus as an alternative finance platform that is created to serve under-served communities by digitizing traditional community savings and lending schemes.
Established by Shema Steve, the platform is built by leveraging blockchain and AI-powered credit scoring to provide financial inclusion for smallholder farmers and informal savings groups across Rwanda and Sub-Saharan Africa. This system digitizes traditional savings structures enabling members to easily track transactions, access loans, and make donations without being dependent on paper-based systems.
According to Shema Steve, he claims that individuals are unable to participate in enterprises or react to financial shocks, vulnerable communities are frequently caught in cycles of poverty due to a lack of financial access. Hence the integration of Exuus to use technology to offer accessible and affordable financial instruments that enable people and small businesses to develop resilience and expand economically.
Platforms like Exuus are essential to closing the gap in financial inclusion since there are currently more than 350 million adults in Africa without bank accounts. In addition to modernizing savings clubs, Shema Steve anticipates a regional alternative finance ecosystem that would empower people and encourage entrepreneurship.
