Shoprite Takes Its Petshop Science Brand Online with Premium Brands & Home Deliveries

The Shoprite Group announced that it is bringing its Petshop Science brand online in order to increase its online presence. This comes as South Africa’s pet industry continues to expand; in the past year alone, Petshop Science has launched 22 physical locations across the country.

An extensive assortment of more than 2000 pet-related products are available at Petshop Science Online. These include upscale brands like Hills, Montego, Dog’s Life, Eukanuba, Ultra Dog, Royal Canin, Rogz, and Nandoe as well as food, treats, toys, and more.

Customers of Petshop Science can now also build online profiles for their pets that include the name, breed, kind, and date of birth of the pet. These profiles are accessible to customers in-person, and they allow PetShop Science to reward devoted customers with incentives that are specifically suited to the needs of their pets.

Orders ordered by 16h00 within a 60km radius of the Cape Town CBD and Sandton will be eligible for next-day delivery. The Group will charge a $4.45 delivery fee for orders under $26.70.

The Group’s Head of eCommerce, Mark Cotton, noted that with the introduction of Petshop Science Online, South Africans will have yet another way to access all of this information without having to leave their homes.

“We’ve been working hard to deliver superior service, range, and value to local pet parents. With the launch of Petshop Science Online, we’re adding another way for South Africans to access all of this – but without leaving their homes,” says Mark Cotton, Head of eCommerce at the Group,” said Cotton.

The Shoprite Group will be looking to grow its pet-related offerings especially as the South African pet industry is currently valued at over $415 million. Since its introduction in 2020, it has offered SA’s most affordable pet insurance, starting at $4.09 per month. The Group opened separate Petshop Science outlets in 2021, making it the first local retailer to do so.
