South African eCommerce Startup Dis-Chem launches its delivery service, DeliverD

Pharmacy and beauty retailer Dis-Chem has announced the launch of its new 60-minute delivery service, DeliverD. The service will be the fourth on-demand delivery offering by a major retailer since Checkers first launched its Sixty60 app in November 2019.

DeliverD will first accommodate a limited range of front-shop products during the trial period, and then thereafter, customers will be able to shop 7,000 items across the retailer’s health, nutrition, beauty, cosmetic, and electricity product categories.

Saul Saltzman, executive director at Dis-Chem said DeliverD speaking on the launch spoke highly of the startup’s existing online offering.

“This development taps directly into understanding what our customers want, central to which is convenience. We have seen significant online growth in the past 12 months, and the ongoing customer demand for quick, same-day online service was a key driver behind the introduction of this offering.

“We foresee the trial phase being a partnership with our customers so that we can ultimately bring the best possible experience and we welcome feedback so that we can refine and improve this service,” said Saltzman.

Delivery times, however, will be influenced by customer needs, their location, and the availability of slots as Dis-Chem intends to use the trial phase as an opportunity for customers to provide feedback on their experience and enhance their service delivery.
