South Africa’s Sole iStore Franchisee Acquires Stake in major Apple Reseller DigiCape

The Competition Commission of South Africa has recommended that the Competition Tribunal allow ZA Online’s proposed acquisition of additional Shock Proof shares. ZA Online is the sole iStore franchisee in South Africa. Major Apple reseller, Digicape is owned by Shock Proof. Apple products from Digicape are available for purchase, including Macs, iPhones, iPads, official accessories, and cellular plans. In South Africa, the only authorized distributor for Apple products is Core Computer Business, which is owned by ZA Online. Since 1995, it has served as the nation’s official Apple brand ambassador.

Medium and large business-to-business (B2B) customers can also purchase Apple products and technology solutions from ZA Online through Core Peripherals, a division of Core Computer Business.

The Commission has noted that there are no significant public interest issues raised by the proposed transaction.

“The Commission found that the proposed transaction is unlikely to result in a substantial prevention or lessening of competition in any relevant markets. It further found that the proposed transaction does not raise any substantial public interest concerns,” the regulator stated.

About Digicape

As the premier Apple reseller in South Africa, Digicape provides a wide selection of Apple goods, services, and training. Over 15 years after its founding in Cape Town, Digicape has grown into a nationwide business with 85 employees spread across several sites. Each member of their staff, which consists of retail, service, and product specialists, has received the necessary training through one of Apple’s many certification programs to guarantee that clients have access to correct information from knowledgeable professionals.

Digicape provides services to both businesses and individuals through its retail outlets and business solutions. Customers may find the complete line of Apple goods in Digicape stores, which also offer free community training sessions, professional guidance, and on-site warranty repairs.

As Digicape expands, they continue to evaluate the many features of Standard ERP and most recently began using the Contracts module for their rental goods and service level agreements.

“We want to use Standard ERP to its full potential,” says Allan Harper, Financial Director. “Whether it’s the Skype integration, Business Communicator or Job Costing. With native software, as an Apple Premium Reseller, we’re able to deliver the ‘wow factor’ straight from our Apple products using Standard ERP.”
