Togolese based Transport Startup Gozem Expands to Gabon

In October 2020 when Gozem despite the economic uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic acquired another Togolese startup called Delivroum which specializes in food deliveries, it was only the start of its expansion. Gozem has today announced the launch of ‘Super App’ taxi booking service in Libreville, Gabon.

Gozem was created by Emeka Ajene in 2018. The startup offers users a suite of services, including motorcycle-taxi transport to car-taxi transport, e-commerce to delivery & logistics services, to various financial services.

The launch of the taxi booking service will enable its Gabonese users to take trips by simply downloading the free app which is available on Android and iOS devices. Users of the Gozem Super App will also be able to travel with ease. The Super App functions like Bolt for drivers and will provide an opportunity for them to secure extra income. The Gozem Super App has an easy-to-use interface; users only have to open the app, enter their location, select their desired destination, and request a ride with the nearest Gozem driver will be alerted to pick them up. At the end of the trip, the app calculates the price based on the distance traveled with the assistance of its built-in GPS technology. Customers will be able to pay for the rides in cash, Airtel Money, Moov Money, or by credit card.

Raphael Dana, co-founder of Gozem speaking on the expansion said that Gozem is proud to be offering high quality, everyday service that responds to the needs of the Gabonese population as it will help the startup’s vision to spread to other West African countries.

“Our ambition is to consolidate our status as the premier super app in Africa, and this expansion to Central Africa, our first foray outside of West Africa, also allows us to prepare our upcoming expansion to Cameroon,” Dana said.
