Tunisian Startup, Beekeeper Tech, Secures $640, 000 Seed Funding For Expansion
Tunisian tech startup, Beekeeper Tech, has revealed that it has successfully secured seed funding of Six hundred and forty thousand US dollars ($640, 000). The latest round is meant to enable the development of technical solutions that will provide beehive monitoring, tracking and breeding technologies.
Beekeeper’s seed round was led by notable VC firm, 216 Capital Ventures, it also had the participation of various angel investors such as Bridging Angels, Mr Ibrahim Al-Rashid, Dammam BioTech Valley, OQAL Angel Investors Network, TAQADAM and Startup Tunisia.
Asides from financial investments it has also been made known that the investors will also be contributing to some mentorship programs and access to mentorship programs.
Identifying various obstacles in the process of running the startup, issues like weak, dying or collapsing hives, and apiary theft was noted. The startup explained that early problem detection will provide quick protection to the hives thereby saving time and cost. The fund allows Beekeepers to come up with workable solutions that will reduce potential losses.
With Beekeeper users can monitor the health conditions of the colonies and the productivity of their beehives, it also provides accurate beekeeping track records with the use of technology. The platform helps beekeepers manage their apiary more effectively.
The startup consists of a team of passionate engineers and beekeepers who are investing time and energy towards the growth and development of the beekeeping community within the North African nation. The goal is to provide a precise experience for the users.
Beekeeper Tech is also looking to expand its service location likewise positioning itself as the market leader in this niche across the MENA region. This move is meant to provide strength for its genetic breeding program for bees. There are also intentions to employ more talent in its team.
