Ugandans can now apply for $100k in EU Green Enterprise Funding
Applications are currently open for the Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA) program, a four-year European Union (EU)-funded project that provides green businesses with customized loans and direct acceleration support.
The UGEFA program is looking to provide funding ranging between $10,000 and $100,000 for eligible startups.
Aside from funding, it will also provide eligible applicants with tailored assistance in refining their business and financial plans in order to facilitate their loan applications.
In the course of the program, the businesses will be matched with affiliate banks to gain access to discounted loans tailored to their specific needs.
According to the organizers, they foresee a long-term transition to a green economy led by SMEs that collaborate with financial institutions to develop and scale innovative goods and services while also creating jobs in green industries.
“To promote access to targeted missing middle finance, we combine capacity building of post-revenue, scalable green enterprises with co-creation with financial institutions.” the organizers concluded.
Applications will be accepted until May 31.
