V&A Waterfront Partners with FOMO App for Restaurant

South Africa’s leading Foodtech startup FOMO, a restaurant specials and events discovery platform has partnered with the V&A waterfront.

The partnership aims to drive consumers back into the V&A by listing all available restaurants and events on the FOMO app.

The V&A Waterfront is an iconic 123-hectare neighborhood that welcomes millions of people from all over the continent and world.

The V&A Waterfront is one of Africa’s most visited destinations. The area had 24 million visitors in 2019 but has seen a massive decline in visitor numbers with the absence of international visitors, events, and business travel due to constant lockdowns, vaccine delays, change in restrictions, resulting in their visitor numbers dropping by 40% from 2019.

Ryan Marx Co-founder of FOMO expressed excitement while commenting that the hospitality sector can leverage the tech initiative of restaurants.

“We are very excited with this initiative, it has been a trying time for all, but especially the hospitality sector, and we are excited to be a part of helping the industry to get back on track this season.

“We have seen a massive transformation in the wake of lockdown, where users are getting more comfortable using apps like FOMO to source great specials at restaurants and events they would not have known of previously.

“On the other side, restaurants have also adopted a better approach to tech and venturing outside of the traditional marketing channels normally afforded to the hospitality industry,” said Max.

Jax du Plessis co-Founder and CMO of FOMO also said: “The Waterfront being one of the top attractions in Cape Town has decided to partner with the FOMO App to leverage their pull on Capetonians and holidaymakers around South Africa coming to Cape Town. Because as we know right now, in South Arica, we need to rely on locals. #SupportLocal”.
