Venture Forward Awards Scholarship To 40 Underrepresented Aspiring VCs

Venture Forward, recently awarded scholarships to 40 recipients as part of the VC University Cohort 13 class. The scholarship comes with full tuition, dedicated house hours, and 3months of a curated mentorship program.

According to the organization, the scholarship recipients were competitively selected from hundreds of candidates who went through an application process that considers career goals, demographic factors, commitment to furthering an inclusive industry, and more.

  • 78% identify as people of color
  • 63% identify as women or as nonbinary
  • 25% identify as LGBTQ+
  • 60% live outside CA, MA, and NY (the 3 states with the majority of venture capital activity)

The VC University is an online, self-paced, certificate course taught over a period of 10 weeks, where participants will learn the nuts and bolts of venture capital, and earn a certificate upon completion.

Venture Forward is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by NVCA to support both current and emerging venture capital (VC) investors by addressing imbalances of access, resources, and opportunity. Our vision is to see more women, people of color, and underrepresented people in investment positions of power who will fund a more diverse set of innovative founders, helping the ecosystem reach its fullest potential.

The program is accepting scholarship applications for the next cohort, which begins on September 5, 2023.
