Villgro Africa Invites African Health Techs with Innovative Solutions to Apply for $20K Reward, Support

Villgro Innovations Foundation, an early-stage business incubator and impact investor that provides mentorship, funding, and network access to startups in the healthcare and life sciences sectors across Africa, is inviting health tech startups to apply for funding and support totaling $20,000.

With the launch of Villgro Kenya in 2017, the India-based investment firm made its first foray into Africa. It rebranded as Villgro Africa in 2020 and expanded across the continent, supporting dozens of businesses with seed funding totaling more than $1 million. Startups interested in joining Villgro Africa’s portfolio can apply for funding of $20,000 or more, as well as business development expertise and access to additional investment opportunities.

Villgro Africa offers personalized incubation experiences to assist emerging businesses in scaling their ideas and effectively navigating the African startup ecosystem. The goal is for these startups to be able to build viable and scalable health and life science solutions that improve people’s quality of life across the continent.

Benefits

Startups accepted to become part of Villgro Africa’s portfolio will receive:

  • Funding worth $20,000
  • Business development expertise (Technical Assistance)
  • Access to further investment opportunities

Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the program, startups must meet the following criteria:

  • A product/hardware Innovation or service delivery/business model innovation with a Health and Life Sciences focus
  • The solution should preferably have a direct impact on the low-income population and solve one or more health problems
  • The solution must be scalable and sustainable (For-profit company)
  • The company must have a minimum viable product (not in the idea stage)
