WIOCC Group has raised $300 million from Saudi Arabia’s Vision International Investment Company and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) to expand its digital infrastructure business across Africa.

Signed at the LEAP 2026 Global Technology exhibition in Riyadh, the funding, one of the company’s largest capital raises, will be used to grow WIOCC’s data center portfolio, terrestrial fiber networks and subsea connectivity infrastructure.

WIOCC operates in more than 30 African countries, providing infrastructure that supports telecommunications operators, cloud providers and businesses. The company said the investment will support its expansion and strengthen its ability to meet rising demand for data storage and connectivity.

“The successful completion of this investment marks an important step in WIOCC Group’s evolution, enhancing the Group’s financial strength and enabling the management team to strengthen our market position, accelerate growth, enhance our ability to meet the evolving needs of customers across Africa, and generate long-term value for investors and stakeholders.” — Joshua Smythwood, Group Chief Strategy and M&A Officer of WIOCC Group.

The deal also signals growing interest from Gulf investors in Africa’s digital economy, particularly in the infrastructure needed to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and other data-intensive technologies.

For African businesses and startups, investment in local data infrastructure could improve access to computing and connectivity while reducing reliance on capacity outside the continent.
