OBM, Egypt's Edtech Startup Receives Second Round of Investment from EdVentures for Expansion

OBM Education, an Egyptian edtech startup, that provides career development navigation tools for high school and university students has received a six-figure investment from EdVentures in its second round of funding to expand and launch its new application.

This is a follow-up investment on the edtech startup from EdVentures, having invested an undisclosed amount and in-kind support, including training and mentorship, as part of the investment in the startup in early January of this year.

Omar El-Barbary and Ezz El-Din Farag founded OBM in 2020 to assist pre-university students in selecting college majors and providing career advising and training programs. The startup offers these services through a broad range of summits and programs, the most notable of which is the Build Your Future Summit (BYF), which is attended by thousands of high school students and graduates, as well as the Education Stakeholders Forum (ESF), a regional summit that brings together key stakeholders from the government, universities, schools, service providers, and investors to improve the education sector in the MENA region. OBM also provides special programs that connect students with top CEOs, mentor them, provide them with real-world business experience, and assist them in deciding on their career paths. Their offerings also include training programs on key employability and communication skills.

What the Stakeholders are Saying

Commenting on the investment, Dalia Ibrahim founder and CEO of EdVentures said “We saw great potential in OBM as they cater to a huge population of students and undergrads, that’s why we were keen to have another round of investment in OBM to help them further expand and increase their offerings; thus helping more students and enabling them to make well-informed decisions about their future and to become job-ready.”

Omar El-Barbary, founder and CEO of OBM said “EdVentures’ new investment is quite strategic for our ambitious expansion plans as we will use it to launch our new application; “Taleb” that will enable us to provide extended services for our users and to fulfill our mission in ensuring an exceptional career advising experience for the Egyptian students.
