Safaricom Partners With Kodris Africa To Develop Kenya's Coding Skills

Kodris Africa, an education technologies organization, and Safaricom, Kenya’s leading mobile network service, have gone into partnership to strategically promote the study of coding via the purchase of a yearly tutorial on the M-Pesa app (Safaricom’s Mobile Money Platform).

With this partnership, customers can procure tokens with a year’s worth of coding tutorials via M-Pesa’s mobile application which they(customers) can activate on their laptops, tablets, or desktop computers for their children or wards towards acquiring coding knowledge.

As reported, Kodris Africa is the initiator of the first coding tutorial program ever approved by the Kenyan government, and accredited by the world’s largest educational institution, Pearson, the program is classified as a curriculum support material at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) yet it is also relevant to students across all levels of the educational system.

Giving Insight into the partnership, Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom’s CEO, stated “We are excited to partner with Kodris to expand access to learning solutions to more than 30 million M-PESA customers who can now conveniently access the Kodris Mini App through our M-PESA Super App. This partnership will enable Kodris to take advantage of our payments and IT solutions to innovate for their customers.”

Mugumo Munene, Kodris Africa CEO, stated that going into partnership with Safaricom will  go a long way by introducing the subject in the nation’s educational system in Kenya.

“The digital revolution taking place throughout the world is transforming how work is done. The skills that students will learn via Kodris Africa will be relevant today and tomorrow and allow them to explore and unleash their creativity and innovativeness in a highly digitized and computerized world which offers growth opportunities,” stated Munene.

The KICD-approved teaching program will be taught online, which can be accessed anywhere once purchased, it is now in its roll-out stage in the country.
