Sohar International has launched an innovation hub as the Omani bank looks to deepen its role in the country’s expanding fintech ecosystem and create a structured pathway for financial technology companies to develop and commercialize new solutions.

The hub will bring together fintech startups, technology companies, entrepreneurs, and financial-sector stakeholders to collaborate on products and services for banking and financial services. The initiative reflects a broader shift across the Middle East, where financial institutions are increasingly working with technology companies to accelerate digital innovation beyond traditional banking infrastructure.

For Black and Brown founders building in emerging markets, the hub could provide access to institutional partners, industry networks, and potential routes to market connections that can determine whether an innovative product moves from a pilot to commercial adoption.

The hub's long-term value, however, will depend on whether collaboration translates into commercially viable products, investment opportunities and sustained market access for participating startups.
