Treepz, FEMADEC Group Partners, Launch ECO-FRIENDLY BUSES IN Nigeria
Nigerian-established mobility startup, Treepz, in partnership with FEMADEC Group, has launched eco-friendly buses in Nigeria. This is part of the startup’s effort to “Go Green” an action that will support Nigeria’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDGs).
To achieve this launch, Treepz partnered with FEMADEC Express Ltd, a subsidiary of FEMADEC Group, an outfit that uniquely uses compressed natural gas (CNG) a substance that has been known to be a substantial source of viable energy.
The use of CNG as a vehicular fuel has been discovered to reduce the emission of CO2 by 20% this is when compared to oil-based vehicular fuels such as Premium Motor Spirits (PMS).
In Ghana, Treepz made the same effort to “Go Green” as it recently launched an electric bus programme in Accra. The launch was meant to further enhance transport quality and options in the nation, while also reducing the emission of CO2. Just like in Nigeria, Treepz also went into partnership with state-owned bus services in Ghana to launch this fleet.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, “The transportation sector is responsible for: Over 55% of NO X total emissions inventory”, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) also noted that road transport is responsible for 50% of the greenhouse gases emitted from the transport sector in Nigeria.
Via in-depth research, it has been established that the support for eco-friendly transportation by government bodies, individuals or startups has become important.
“Working with like-minded partners like Treepz will help us achieve our sustainability goals. Through this partnership, we look forward to playing a driving role in green transport innovations in Nigeria’’. This is according to FEMADEC Group’s CEO, Fola Akinola.
