Saudi Arabia Launches Attaa Digital Hackathon in Egypt
The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of the Attaa Digital Hackathon in Egypt, an initiative aimed at strengthening ties with academic institutions and universities in the Arab world.
The three-day event began yesterday, August 29th, 2022, and will last until August 31st. The organizers are the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
The event also includes participation from the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) partners, such as the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Egyptian IT Industry Development Agency, and RiseUp Company.
The digital hackathon in Egypt was launched in response to the agreement signed between MCIT and ICESCO on December 8, 2021.
The event is intended to train cadres, build capacity, and encourage young people to share their ideas and compete to present the best solutions and proposals that serve the communities.
In addition, the program seeks to raise digital awareness and strengthen collaborations with academic institutions and universities throughout the Arab world. The hackathon will offer a variety of workshops, training courses, and tests to encourage creativity, innovation, and teamwork in the creation of Arabic educational content in the technical field and to attract digital content creators.
Training tracks include cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality.
Some of the conditions for application include, that applicants must be Egyptians, not younger than 18 years of age, active creators of Arabic digital content, and interested in technology.
