Tigo Tanzania Partners With Sister Telecoms To Ease Mobile Money Transaction In East Africa.
The Tigo telecommunications company in Tanzania has decided to partner with some sister Telecommunications Company in Africa to help customers in East Africa send and receive funds across the region. The companies which made up the partnership includes, MTN in Rwanda and Uganda, Airtel in Rwanda, and M-Pesa in Kenya.
Tigo Tanzania hopes this will enable customers to send and receive funds through cross platforms among the partnered mobile wallet services.
Commenting on the development, developing telecommunication writer, James Barton motioned that, this step will make customers be at ease to do their transactions across the East African region, and will increase transactions for cross border remittance users as well, while it ensures that Tigo Pesa customers are connected.
“The service now ensures that Tigo Pesa customers are connected to all major mobile money services across the East African region, a move that will increase transactions for cross-border remittance users”. Says James Barton
Sharing another view on the development, the Tigo acting chief officer for mobile financial services, Angelica Pesha, stated that the move is an indication of a close relationship between the customers of Tigo and the company. Also added that this is a sign of how far mobile money can be extended which will allow the flow of business as the transfer of money will be quick and secure across east Africa,

It also means that the benefits of mobile money can be extended to cross-border trade, allowing businesses and families to transfer money quickly and securely in East Africa.” Says Angelica Pesha
General Manager of mobile money financial services for MTN Uganda, Stephen Mutana added that it is a testimonial to drive to the extent of affordability, reliability, and secure financial services to all people in the region.
