Senegalese Mobility Startup, Kai Senegal, raises Seed Fund

Senegalese mobility startup Kai Senegal has announced it raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round.

The round was led by Mobility 54, the corporate venture capital arm of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, to help it scale.

Kai Senegal was founded in 2018, with the aim of connecting customers to drivers via its app, as well as listing various commercial motor vehicles for sale.

Kai Senegal leverages its technology-driven ride-hailing platform to connect users.

In a statement released by Mobility 54, the firm said that Kai is bringing innovative solutions to public transport challenges in West Africa.

“Through Mobility 54’s participation, Toyota Tsusho/CFAO group aims to support local innovative solutions to confront the many challenges facing public transport in West African countries such as poor quality of service, insecurity, and road congestion.

“Through its innovative business model, Kai will allow the group to serve a new type of customer and to bring them all its expertise and services”.

Kai plans to expand into additional countries across West Africa by the end of 2022.
