Egyptian e-Commerce Startup Odiggo expands to UAE
Egyptian e-Commerce automotive spare parts startup Odiggo has announced its expansion to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) having clocked up to one million users over the course of last year.
Odiggo was created in 2018 by Ahmed Omar but launched its service in 2019, the startup links customers with vendors to purchase car parts and accessories. In 2019, Odiggo raised $180,000 in May 2019, and then secured $600,000 in a seed funding round from Essa Al-Saleh, former chief executive officer (CEO) of the billion-dollar logistics company Agility Logistics and current chairman of Volta Trucks.
The startup only announced its intention to expand in May 2021 after it had closed an undisclosed amount in a funding round.
Ahmed Omar, chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of Odiggo speaking on the expansion said that the startup was changing lives and informed the general public of the upgrade in service delivery.
“We’re changing lives – and cars – through technology. The innovative new Deep Tech dashboard software will link the vehicle to the marketplace and provide frequent updates of the vehicle’s condition so the user can be informed if the tires are low, the oil needs changing or if a service is required”.
Having expanded its service into UAE, the startup now operates in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Egypt to expand into Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.
